Longreach State School has a proud history of providing quality learning for students of the Longreach district. Staff and community are committed to providing challenging and innovative learning experiences in a caring environment.
Our school currently caters for children from Prep to Year 7. Qualified staff within our Special Education Unit support students with disabilities throughout their schooling.
Longreach State School boasts many unique features that help in our students' growth and education. The Early Years Team provides a strong focus on literacy and numeracy for Prep to Year 3. The Middle Years Team continues the core learning focus, with extension including Technology-Design and Technology-Food . The Special Education Unit provides many real life learning experiences specially designed to develop vital living skills.
All students explore subjects such as Science, SOSE, Visual Arts, Health and Physical Education, and Music. Our school also boasts facilities such as classroom computers and a computer lab in each block; as well an art room, music room, design workshop, kitchens for cooking and an award-winning teacher resource room. Outside we have well-kept sporting grounds and multiple undercover play areas that support our sun safe policies.
Our passionate staff provide supervised lunchtime activities that have ranged from poetry reading and paper plane making to inter-house sport and choir. Parents are kept informed of their students' progress through weekly reporting.
Longreach State School has been educating our youth since 1893 and will continue to prepare students for an exciting future.
